milk

How fabulous is this by Julien De Repentigny! Titled 'Milk' (wonder why...) it is described as an 'experiment in cardboard packaging as well as in communication. It represents the product .. in the simplest way.' With the same dimensions as a 2 litre milk carton this is an excellent representation of a day to day object. This appeals to me especially as I am a huge cereal freak, my favourite being chocolate chip weetabix, weetos and cheerios - yummy.

OF COURSE THE MILK MUST BE ORGANIC (SOY IF POSSIBLE) - LET'S NOT LET COWS SUFFER JUST SO WE CAN ENJOY OUR CEREAL.

Hooray! News is flying about that Bloc Party have started working on new material and will apparently be gracing us with their genius presence in September! 
Guitarist Richard Lissack confirmed to NME that he has met up with Bloc Party front man Kele and they have plans to meet as a band later in the year. He said "Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff together and separately."
Last playing live in 2009 (when I saw them perform at T in the Park festival, and they were incredible as always) they have been missed and new material is greatly anticipated. Come on boys, get it together!

I had a neck-breaking moment when I was walking past Chanel in Singapore and saw these bad boys sitting in the window. Uncontrollably I ran into the show and demanded (politely, of course!) the shoes in my size. However I tried on the cream, they looked AMAZING and felt INCREDIBLE. Sexy, classy and undeniably Chanel however chunky still remains elegant and bang on trend. It was really the gorgeous navy I was after, which they didn't have in stock. I don't think my credit card would have liked them much anyway..

souls under the moon

Recentley had the absolute pleasure of coming across Yayoi Kusama's otherworldly Souls Under the Moon (2002) in the Queensland GOMA, Brisbane.
The photograph of the artwork, shown below, struggles to show the true magnificence of it. You are transported into this magical world through where all the walls are mirrored and dark and these neon balls hang from the sky, glowing for the uv lamps, repeated in the mirrors - resulting in this unbelievable piece of work which is totally trippy. The mirror lined walls and neon balls create a never ending vision of time-space, it is silent inside and utterly breathtaking!
Highly reccomended if you are ever in Brisbane...
Aside from that, though, the artist herself is interesting...she lives and works in Tokyo and suffers from depersonalization syndrome -  a syndrome whereby the patient feels that their body is dissolving, changing, or simply absent. It is often called ‘Alice in Wonderland Disease’,due to the inability to perceive the reality of one’s self, life or environment. Symptoms have been described as creating a feeling of being “like an alien visiting Earth for the first time.” Bizarre!  - it is easy to see how the syndrome influences her work! Sometimes the individual perceives objects at delusional sizes and shapes. In extreme cases, patients experience life in a constant OBE (out-of-body) state of mind — patients describe the sensations as, “floating on the ceiling looking down at myself,” or “feeling as one were a machine or robot,” or, “in a constant dream state with body on autopilot.” Incredibly interesting I think... 
Constructing Soul Under the Moon Kusama lined a room with mirrored glass, hanging neon coloured balls (that look simply like ping pong balls) from the celling. We were asked not to touch or blow at the balls, and while it was tempting to reach out and touch them, their stillness was mesmerizing.

gaga a la skeleton

It is explicit, sexy and means business. Yet still utterley beautiful? Love love love it, Gaga! Can she do wrong? It feels so wrong that I can never seem to fault her looks but with Nicola Formichtti's direction she gets it SO RIGHT and this is the best yet...

As I am positive you know the skeleton look reared its head in the excellent 'Born this Way' video, alongside that hair I think it is utter perfection - especially as she manages to completely distract from the guy who is actually incredibly hot... Canadian Rico Genest is also the star of the Mugler fashion film shown below - soundtrack mixed by Gaga especially for Formichetti's Menswear Show.

Gaga displays her skeleton look in The Exhibitionist Issue of ID also, showcasing Mugler's menswear. And manages to look striking.

Would it be crazy to try and imitate Gaga's skeleton make-up!? Hmm...

hello, internet.

This is strangethings. I don't want to put a label on my blog. Sure I love fashion, but it won't be calling it a fashion blog because my interests lie in so much more as well - art, music, travel, beauty, theatre, film to name but a few. So I'm not going to be narrowminded and put this blog in a box, and neither should you. Just enjoy it, as I hope to, as I post whatever I feel and I hope you like it :)
